Deemer Wedding | Barker Mansion | Destination Wedding | Michigan City, IN
I met Lori and her mom just a couple months prior to her destination wedding at Barker Mansion, near the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. If you opened the dictionary to the words “warm and calm” I think you’d see a photo of Lori and her mom! Before we got into all the details, I asked a little bit about Mike. She may or may not have had a pretty large grin from ear to ear as she started to tell me. 😉 She shared about how they knew of each other in school, how he played several years of professional basketball, and how they had more recently reconnected by being set up by friends. I’ll never forget her mom chiming in at the end with, “oh, by the way, he’s also 6”10.” No big deal! 😉 We ended with hugs, and spent the next few weeks going over details, and before we knew it, it was their wedding day!
This day wasn’t just the joining of a couple. It was the marriage of a couple and their 6 beautiful children. Their children served as their bridal party, which was so fun and special! Another special part of the day was watching each parent share vows to their newly chosen and inherited children. It was a beautiful thing to witness. Even more beautiful than that, was the way the kids looked at their new bonus parent with honor and love. It was a ceremony that was loving, calm, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect if you tried.
Barker Mansion was the perfect setting for their wedding! With the addition of the talented Sugarfield Flowers, and the never disappointing Uptown Cakery, you just couldn’t go wrong!
To Lori + Michael: My prayer and hope for you and your family is that you are blessed with a lifetime of love! The scripture you had engraved on your sand jar was such a wonderful verse. It’s not only a great reminder of who we should be, but words to live by on how to treat each other. You have a beautiful family, and I am humbled and honored that I was given the opportunity to witness such a beautiful union!
