Claudia | LPHS Senior | La Porte, Indiana | Toni Jay Photography
Where to even begin. I first had the honor of shooting Claudia’s family last fall. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since that shoo! And now this girl is completing her high school career, and moving into the next stage of life. This session was very bittersweet for me. It was the last session I booked prior to taking off for awhile for maternity leave. It was, however, the right choice to end on this session, considering that Joy had to help me up a couple of times, ha! But ending on this beautiful senior filled me with several emotions!
We planned our shoot on such a great day, because we had both clouds and sun. It can be super difficult to work with, but love that it gave such great diffusion in many images, and gorgeous backlight in others! We shot in the beautiful downtown area of La Porte and ended our session at Luhr Park.
I can’t even begin to understand how proud Claudia’s parents are of her. All I could think about during our session was “if this girl I’m currently carrying has half the grace and beauty as Claudia, I’d be over the moon proud and beyond thrilled.” When I thought about this new life beginning for our daughter soon, I also thought about this new life beginning for Carrie + John’s daughter soon. I thought about how very soon I’ll get to hold this tiny newborn, but also how soon I’ll be in their shoes, watching that baby head into the unknown, hoping and praying that these short years were spent wisely. Carrie + John, your years were spent wisely. This girl you see in these photos is a gift. She is selfless, caring, sweet, and all the important parts that a parent could hope to see in their child.
Carrie + John, you have done an amazing job in shaping and molding this life that will soon head off!
Claudia, I wish you ALL the best as you start this journey! I loved hearing all about the plans you have for the future during our time together, and I can’t wait to see all the things you do and experience! Your presence will be missed in La Porte, but whatever you do, always remember to call your mom and dad 😉
